Vases, bottles, apples and grapes line up on the table against a soft sea-green sky. Leaves spring out of every neck, patterns wrap every surface, and one vase has quietly turned into a bird with its eyes closed.

THE idea
In Italian a still life is a natura morta, a dead nature. This one is a natura viva. The objects are the same ones every still life has painted for centuries, but here they grow, bloom and breathe, as if the table had come alive the moment nobody was looking.
