Overview
A long ribbon of black and white runs from one edge of the canvas to the other, carried across a soft field of blue with streaks of pink. Look closer and the ribbon comes apart into faces, eyes, fins, feathers and patterns, each creature folding into the next.
The idea
Deriva means drift. Nothing in the painting chooses its direction; everything is carried by the same current, and somehow that makes them belong together. From a distance it reads as one flowing shape. Up close it becomes a crowd, travelling together.
