Overview
A diagonal of warm yellow falls from the top corner down to a glowing lantern held at the bottom. Everything the beam touches turns gold: a sleepy face, a smiling figure, a bird perched on top. Around it, a crowd of creatures in every shade of blue presses in from the dark, some watching the light, some turning away.

THE idea
La guida means the guide. In a crowd where everyone looks alike, one light is enough to change how things are seen. The painting asks who carries that light, and who simply follows it.
