Commissions

Let's build
something good.

I take on a handful of commissions a year: murals, books, packaging, public art and editorial. Tell me about your project and I'll come back within 2 working days with a clear quote and timeline.

What I take on

Four kinds of brief.

Each one has a different rhythm, scale, and licence structure. We'll talk through which lane fits before any numbers come up.

Murals & installations

Site-painted murals and large installations for brands, civic spaces, public art programmes and private clients.

UK and travelling. Each piece is quoted after a site visit or a first conversation: wall, scale, access and timeline all change the number.

Brand illustration

Illustration commissioned by brands for the surfaces they live on — packaging, cans, labels, campaign artwork, product launches, merch. From a single label through to a full brand-illustration system. Occasional logo & mark commissions for brands I've already illustrated for.

Books & editorial

Covers, interiors, magazine and newspaper commissions. From a single editorial spot to a complete cover suite, brief through to print-ready files.

Private commissions

A one-off piece for a person rather than a brand — a portrait, a family scene, a wedding gift, a memorial, a piece for your own wall. Smaller, slower, more intimate. Concept developed with you, finished in studio.

Every project is quoted individually. The number depends on use, scope, licensing and timeline — I'll come back with a clear quote within 2 working days of your enquiry.
How commissioning works

Five steps,
conversation to legacy.

The process is collaborative, structured, and designed to take the risk out of commissioning. Clear pricing, simple contracts, one main point of contact — me.

01
First conversation

We start with a call — what the project is for, the scale, the audience, the timeline, the stakeholders. Free, no obligation. If we're a good fit we move forward; if we're not, I'll happily point you toward someone who is.

Free 30-min call · No brief required
02
Research & direction

I dig in. For murals: a site visit, local history, conversations with the people who use the place. For books, packaging and editorial: the manuscript, the product, the world it lives in. This is where the good ideas actually come from.

Site visit or kick-off doc · Mood + reference
03
Sketches & sign-off

I come back with two or three directions, in sketch. We pick one and refine it together. Clear checkpoints so you (and your stakeholders) sign off the direction before anything is locked in.

2–3 sketch directions · 1 round of revisions
04
Make

I make the work — in the studio for illustration and packaging, on site for murals and installations. Archival print files, professional exterior paints, proper documentation. I run the logistics so you don't have to.

Final artwork · Print-ready files · On-site painting
05
Delivery & legacy

You get the final piece — files, printed work, or a finished wall. I photograph and document everything properly, hand over the licences in writing, and stay on call if anything needs a touch-up down the line.

Documentation · Licence handover · Aftercare
What to expect

The bits that
don't change.

  • Clients across brands, agencies, publishers, councils and private collectors
  • Clear checkpoints — you sign off before each stage moves on
  • Honest, fixed quoting — no surprise extras at the end
  • The right materials for the brief: archival prints, exterior-grade paints, full licensing in writing
  • Calm delivery, even when the brief changes mid-flight
The Range

What I can make for you.

Bespoke illustration and artwork to tell a story — for newspapers and editorial, books, packaging, cans, and walls. The pieces below are studio work and personal exercises; together they map the kind of brief I'm built for.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Don't see your question? Drop me an email, I read everything that comes in.

  • Editorial pieces: usually 1–3 weeks. Books and packaging: 4–6 weeks for a single piece, 6–10 for a full suite. Murals: from 3 weeks for the smallest, 6–8 weeks for larger pieces including a site visit and prep.

  • Every project includes a round of revisions on the chosen direction at the sketch stage, and a final tweak round on the artwork. Further revisions are quoted hourly so the project stays predictable.

  • You own the rights to use the work for the agreed scope (e.g. a book cover, a campaign, a wall). I retain copyright and the right to show the piece in my portfolio. Wider licensing (merch, secondary print runs) is quoted on top.

  • Yes, UK-wide as standard, anywhere else with travel and accommodation included in the quote. I've worked across the UK and Europe.

  • 30% deposit on confirmation, 40% on sketch sign-off, 30% on delivery. Bank transfer or invoice. Larger projects can be split into milestones.

  • Yes. If a project is too small for my rate I'll say so honestly and point you to someone better suited. No hard sell.
