THE CONCEPT
The Arena holds the foreground; behind it the city climbs through time. Ponte Pietra crosses the Adige, the rose window of San Zeno looks on, a Roman gate frames the name of the city, and the Scaliger ladder rises over the old houses. Romeo and Juliet reach for each other across the balcony, a Roman citizen and Mozart share the same street, and a ribbon of music runs through it all, past a glass of the valley's red wine.
