Overview
At the bottom, a calm figure with her eyes closed. Above her, everything that lives inside: animals, faces, sleeping creatures and restless ones, tumbling out of the head and crowding the canvas. Cool blues and whites against a warm yellow field, all held together by the black line.
The idea
Memory rarely arrives in order. It comes as a crowd, some faces awake, some asleep, all pressing for space. Hidden in the hatching between the lines are passages from Giacomo Leopardi's Zibaldone on memory, written so small they become pattern. From a distance they read as texture; up close they turn back into words. A portrait not of how I look, but of what I carry.
